Orinoco and XP - dropping connection

Hello.

Since upgrading to XP yesterday(from w98), my Orinoco USB Silver is dropping connection from my SMC 7000awbr wireless router. I used the drivers from 6/6/2002 that Orinoco suggested for Win XP.

Is this a known issue?

I have a laptop, running w98, that has a Orinoco Silver PCI card which isn't dropping connection. So I am assuming it's a problem with the USB adapter or the driver.

Any ideas on what to try? Thanks.

D

There has been a long running problem between XP wireless zero configuration (such as the Orinoco uses) and all routers based on Prism II technology. All were cured as far as I know by firmware upgrades in the router. If this is your problem check with SMC for the latest router firmware.

Green,

Correct you are.

You think SMC tech support would have mentioned that yesterday when I spoke to them. I specifcally asked if there is any software, ect, that I need.

I discovered the firmware update after searching on google for about a half hour and going to smc.com.

Thanks!
