do i need an adapter?

I recently bought a new HP laptop that is wireless ready.

Product Specification label reads as follows:

Network Card:
Integrated 10/100Base-T ethernet LAN (RJ-45 Connector)

Wireless Connectivity:
Intel/PRO Wireless 3945 ABG Network Connection

Will I need to buy a network card/adapter for connecting to my future home wireless network? I've noticed that some networking kits come with both the router AND the adapter. If I won't need the adapter I'd like to put the extra money into a top of the line router.

The short answer is no you don't need another adpater...

You need a wireless router device of some flavor. The Linksys WRT-54G series get good reviews for example...

I recommend staying away from the so called Pre-N devices and stick with routers that do 802.11g. Make sure the router will also support WPA2 or WPA encryption. WEP encryption is very weak and not safe.

My general wireless security guidelines...

Good luck...
