Centrino XP & D-Link
My home LAN works, but I recently replaced a faulty router with a D-Link 802.11g/2.4GHZ DI-524 router. All computers have XP Service Pack 2.
I tried to install a WPA connection, but failed - probably because my wife's laptop uses a Centrino based wireless connection. So I changed to a shared key WEP with 64Bit WEP encryption and an ASCII key1.
I enable wireless on her computer and it sees a 2 or 3 networks. (View Available Wireless Networks) I had this disabled before to stop my wife from getting messages that people are trying to access hers.
One network is named "on the air". The stronger one is named default. I am assuming that is our local one.
So I clicked on Default (the 2nd one), and Change advanced settings.
Clicking the Wireless Networks tab, I have the following listed:
x brazee(Automatic)
x Purelink.net AIRPORT1(Automat...
x tmoble (Automatic)
x SAInnWireless1(Automatic)
i on the air(Manual)
I just changed the latter to ON DEMAND by unchecking "Connect when this network is in range". I don't want to connect to it.
I checked brazee properties.
Association Tab:
Network Authentication Shared
Data Encryption WEP
Network Key (the same one I put in my router)
Key index (advanced) 1
Unchecked - The key is provided for me automatically
Authentication tab:
checked - Enable IEE 802.1x authentication for this network
EAP Type: Protected EAP (PEAP)
Checked - Authenticate as computer when computer information is available.
Checked - Authenticate as guest when user or computer information is unavailable
Connection
Checked - Connect when this network is in range
What is the next step I need to do?
