    Question Setting up NetBIOS over TCP/IP

    I read the check list in the sticky and it says to have NetBIOS set up over TCP/IP. I was wondering how to do that.

    You do that by going into Network Connections, right-clicking on the connection, going into properties and choosing Install -> Add Protocol -> NWLink IPX/SPX/NetBIOS Compatible Transport Protocol.

    Is that right?

    No, don't do that.

    Network Connections->right-click on the connection->select properties->highlight TCP/IP->click properties->click advanced->select WINS tab->check Enable Netbios over TCP/IP.

    Obvious really.

    Ah ok, thanks for the reply.

    And that needs to be done even if you use DNS and DHCP?

    Mostly it doesn't need to be done at all. Its just to be sure.
