I a going on a mission trip to Kenya. I have to set up 5 PCs and a printer on Windows XP PCs using an ethernet switch. I have chosen to use a static IP on the printer so it will be available even if one or more of the PCs is down.

Two questions:

1- Is this a good solution so each PC can use the printer?
2- Can someone list the steps I will need to follow to do this (install printer and switch, assign static IP, set up each PC to access printer).

Do I also have to set up a network on each PC? If yes, steps for that also.

Thanks

There are multiple options/technologies in networking a printer, everything ranging from connecting it to a system and then sharing it across the network to the various print server technologies. This type of question is too vague at this point.
