I hope this is where this goes...

I am currently running a linux file server on my home network.
I also have a computer running xp pro with three users.
I have set up daily backups for certain files on this computer to be saved to my linux file server.
My problem however is removing access rights to 2 of the users on the xp machine running the backups. When i mount my network drive, i have to log in with a user account on the server but then everyone on the xp computer can access it. When i check the permissions, i can only select objects from the server, not the xp computer. How, do i change the permissions of the users on the xp computer?

Sorry if that's not clear.

You should be able to unmount the share from the server after the backup is completed. There should only be one user instance on the XP desktop anyway. Is this something other than a standard XP system?

Hi yeah, I can just unmount it. Just thought if there was a way to just keep the drive connected all the time it would make things easier. Especially since i don't think my batch file to connect the drive is working when nobody is logged on. And I have 3 user accounts. 1 admin and 2 limited users.

Then you might have to stop using "Fast User Switching" and have each user log off instead... This is probably a Windows setting/functionality issue rather than an actual networking one.
