We have a pc running win2k pro that I would like to connect to our network. When I plug the ethernet cable in the little icon shows connection and I verified the local connection shows connected. I cannot, however, get IE to connect to the internet. I'm certain it is a setting but I cannot figure it out for the life of me.

Could someone offer me some help? I know my way around the network settings but am not sure what they need to be set to.

"verified the local connection shows connected"

How are you doing your verification? How about an "ipconfig" output?

All I can say is that the little icon in the lower right shows a local connection and when I check properties on the local connection it shows data being sent and received.

I can't recall what ipconfig said, I can check in the am.

All that means is that the NIC detects an ethernet connection (barely)...

Well what steps would you recommend I take?

"How about an "ipconfig" output?"

Maybe even against a working system too.

Found out this computer has not accessed internet since CA antivirus was installed. I will likely have to reinstall operating system. Thanks

You might try contacting CA for support as a first step...
