employers laptop on my home network

I was wondering if it is possible for my employer to see what I am doing on my home pc while my work laptop is connected to my network and vpn'd into the company's network?

If you have time-sensitive requirements, then the public "best effort" forums is probably not adequate for your needs. Contacting local or "live" support will probably be more in line with those types of requirements.

The typical VPN will isolate the VPN client from the host network and have it appear to be part of the VPN end-point network. Your best bet is to contact your employer directly, if you suspect them of deploying monitoring/discovery software of the nature you described.
