networking via router

I have 3 computers that all run through a wifi router/modem one is connected via a usb directly into the router, one via ethernet from the computer to the router and the other is wireless (my laptop) I need a step by step procedure to network them. I have run the setup wizard on the laptop and the ethernet connected one successfully, the one connected via usb sets up till it is nearly finished and then it gives me a screen that tells me-:

CANNOT COMPLETE THE NETWORK SETUP WIZARD
An error occurred during configuration of the network on this computer.
You can configure your network manually, or you can run the wizard again with different settings.

I have tried to change the name etc but it still throughs up the same message. I am not a computer wiz just know basic stuff can someone help me

Do you have the appropriate USB drivers installed correctly on the problematic system?
