Old server causing prob with new server

I recently replaced an old WinNT server with a new WinXP server. Everything is working well except that the workstations all use Win98. When I start the workstations, they still want me to log on to the old network. How can I disable this feature and eliminate the error message that I get after clicking "OK"? I did install the XP networking files on the 98 machines, and I have mapped the drive. All programs are working fine, it is just annoying to have the login for the network come on everytime I turn a workstation on.
