Hi All,
My self a broadband engineer at sify ltd. New Delhi.I am facing a strange problem with my network.we are providing last mile internet connectivity through lan network but the lan got internet connectivity through SU ( subscribed unit ) on RF.Now for last few days the latency of SU is at higher level, and it is said by my senior that this is the case of either spurious traffic or collision. But after observation i found that the MAC ID of all the pc's in the lan are same including the SU, it is shown on the "arp table" of SU.Can someone suggest me what is happening outhere?

The forums around here are focused around basic SOHO networking, there is practically no activity around carrier/ISP infrastructure topics. Your best bet is to probably work with your infrastructure partners/vendors for assistance.

There is such a thing as 'poisoning' an ARP table, where a malicious user or intruder alters the table with spurious MAC addresses. I'm not sure how this would effect the 'latency' you speak of, but it will definitely terminate communications over a LAN, at least until the ARP table is refreshed.
