Hi ppl - (New to forum)

I live above a pub which offers 2mbs wifi (at a cost) - and i have a wireless Belkin PCI G desktop network card which i use on my pc to access it with. im on windows xp btw

I can connect to the internet but the speed is extremely slow!! In the connection status it displays packets being recieved as double the amount being sent. This also shows up in the Belkin config screen (shows 100kbps being recieved but transmitting only 2kbps)

I have tried it with the firewall on and off - no difference
Checked for spyware/viruses - no difference
Used tune-up tool from tune-up.com to improve speed which has done by 1kbps
the signal is 90%-80% so surely it should be faster than this?

Any other ideas/suggestions i can do to try and speed up my connection

Possible problems could be:
- Your wireless connection is poor strength/quality due to a badly connected aeriel.
- Your wireless connection is poor strength/quality due to inteference by objects in the line of sight. Move the PC around.
- The belkin card is not fully compatible with the pub wireless (unlikely). Ensure you have the latest belkin driver for the card - from their website.
- The pub ISP is ADSL and your connection is not optimised. Try this:
