I have Vista Home Premium with a USB wireless adapter. The router is downstairs on the other side of the room (about 300 ft. away) and occasionally i am disconnected. Is it possible to add an external antenna to the usb adapter to, of course, improve the wireless signal that is coming to my computer?. The closer computers on our home network don,t have this problem. Thanks for any help.

Typically no with most USB adapters, but that's something the manufacturer will be able to answer definitively for their own product. The other possibly option is to deploy the external antenna at the wireless router/access point to increase its wireless performance.
You might also try some of the typical wireless troubleshooting approaches too (router/access point placement, wireless channel use and/or ensuring non-default SSID selection).

Thanks, I ran the evaluation test and it showed that it did not support NAT. In the meantime, we switched to a different channel and have had approx. 95% connectivity since. Thanks for your suggestion.

Your last posting is referring to two separate threads - confusing!
