In our Home we have a wireless network (a la NetGear) and it works with most of our computers. Funny thing is the computer that is stationed closest to the wireless broadcaster cannot connect to the internet. Whether I use the NetGear software or windows wireless networking to detect the signal, they both read it as fairly strong. However, whether I use internet explorer to connect or opera or firefox, I CANNOT get a web page to load up. Is this an issue with Windows Media Center computers? Is it incompatible with NetGear? Or is this something entirely different? I have searched both NetGear and Windows Media Center FAQ's, yet found nothing pertenant to my problem. Does anyone here know what might be going on?
The network is unsecured, as we live in the middle of the country, so there is little threat of unauthorized access.

No reason why a wireless MCE should not work with a wireless router of any brand. Debug it like any other PC connection to the router.
First ensure you have a wireless connection by checking the MCE is allocated an IP address and gateway address by the router.

This is a VERY odd problem. When I debug, it niether fixes the issue or detects an issue. In addition, I assume the MCE is working, as whenever I refresh my IP address it not only gives me the address, but it gives me one that is in sequence with the others in the network...

do you have any firewall or security software running? I recently ran into a problem with a customer running a security suite with a firewall. . .

I Have Disabled the Firewall settings on the computer on multiple occasions. I know there is not an issue from the other end, because, as I said before, the other 2 computers in the house (laptops) connect without incident. However, I realize that my knowledge of the firewall settings is limited. Is there something else I should be doing rather than simply disabling it?

Well, windows firewall shouldn't be the issue, enabled or not, because when you run the network setup wizard ( provided you did so ) it automatically forwards the ports it needs through windows firewall. The issue would be with a third party program if you have one. Norton or McAfee installed? Both suites have firewalls that you have to manually allow ports. i would also check to see what type of security you have set up within IE's options. check to see what your level is set to
