Ok first time visiting this site. Here I go and try to explain what i want to do. I am not familiar with computer stuff other then basic things. My late father was the computer genious and i wish i paid more attention.
I just bought a toshiba a135 laptop and want to be able to use the internet here at home when someone is on this computer (dell). Here at home we have a cable modem (motorola sbv5220). When we had DSL it was routed to and thru a netgear rt314 router from the westell wirespeed box for the dsl. From there it was sent thru and ethernet cable to an apple airport basestation 2.0 so we can use our older computer upstairs wirelessly.
Now i think i can hook up the cable modem and use the router I already have, but i'de like to know how I can use my current setup (router/apple basestation) and use my laptop. I did read a post about someone's new laptop and having vista installed and not beeing able to use a wireless connection at home. My new laptop has vista installed (not by choice) and home dell has XP. Will these even work together?
