Can't get router to work

:confused: Please help me. I bought a laptop today and got a router to get connected with my PC to the net. The router I have bought is Zyxel Prestige 66HW-T1. This does not have a built in modem so the man in shop said that all we had to do was to disconnect the modem from the phone line, connect the router to the phone line and the modem to the router. We have done everything he says to do but get to the part where we need to be connected to the internet to get any further and it wont connect. Driving me mad as I really wanted to play with my new comp tonight. Can anyone help please. Any advice would be appreciated. Thank you in advance ;)

Have you read the manual and Quick Start instructions closely? Usually they are very helpful getting the basic network connected and running. I presume you have a broadband internet account of some type, ie. cable or DSL.
