I was wondering whether bad drivers could be responsible for dhcp problems.
Here's what is happening:
new laptop with vista, no xp drivers . Found a driver for atheros ar5006eg card from windows update.
Now I can connect to a d-link wireless router if i assign a static ip address to the wireless network adapter, but if I switch to DHCP I get -
" limited or no connectivity. "this problem occured because the network did not assign a netowrk address to the computer"
With the exact same configuration on the same laptop I can connect to the laptop wirelessly with vista. Currently I am connected to the router with an ethernet cable on xp
So could this be a bad driver or is there anything else I should check ? and if it is a bad driver , then is there any site where I can try a few drivers?
Things i have checked: wireless antenna is on , dhcp is running, signal strength is excellent.
Thanks
