I am having a problem getting a PC to link to a wireless network.

My system consists of the following: -

Wireless router - Linksys Wireless-B Broadband Router (Firmware version 1.50.13)
PC - Dell Dimension 4500
OS - Windows XP SP2 with all upgrades
Wireless LAN card - TP Link Technologies Wireless LAN Card (TL-WN510G_550G_551G) This uses the Atheros 5005G chip set.

The system works without any problem when security is disabled. When WPA security is activated via the Windows XP networking wizard it fails to work. No error messages are displayed - it just stops trying to connect.

I have checked the password and it is correct. Also my Lenovo Laptop connects with no problems.

Have you any idea what is happening??? Are there any debug tools that might be able to help.

Thanks in advance.

You seem to be using an old Linksys router and a TP-Link modern PCI card. There is always the possibility of incompatibility between different vendors even tho they claim to be made to the same IEEE standards.
If you have the latest firmware for each there is little more you can do to analyse what is wrong unless you want to learn using complex analysis tools, and if you could you probably cannot fix it.

If they provide WEP does that work. WEP is enough for most networks despite all the hype about its weaknesses.
