My husband keeps getting bounced off our network when neighbours use their wireless connections and I am looking for ideas on why and how to solve this!
I have a cable modem and Belkin router - wired. He is on the next floor down on a Belkin WAP. Signal strength is excellent, and connection good since I stopped him using the Belkin utility (!). We have a basic g. He gets on straight away but at school going home time all the neighbours get on their networks, and he looses his connection. He also looses it when they disconnect!. There are as many as 10 wireless networks in the street. I am using channel 6 and there is only one other neighbour on that channel. There is supposed to be a contention ratio of 20 users but this may have changed. Also the ISP does not officially support wireless networks
This is driving us both mad ( especially when I get a pathetic call for help from him whilst I am in the middle of something!)
