I have a DSL connection split by a router to my 2 housemates and I. It seems that everytime my 2nd housemate uses their comp, the bandwidth to myself and the 1st housemate drops to almost nill. I keep attempting to see what the 3rd h-mate is running on their box, but they wont let me near it and deny they're not the problem. Is there any way I can regulate the bandwidth from the router??

No - no freebies to control bandwidth sharing - it exists but is expensive add on units for corporate bandwidth management. (Though I have a memory I saw something somewhere - I will think on it).

It sounds like your mate is hammering the connection. Is he giving a service on the internet e.g. FTP server (you can check by looking at the router port forwarding tables which he would have set to forward some ports to his IP address).

Or he is downloading from websites or with Kaza - probably movies or MP3.

Who controls the router ? It has an ID and p/w.
You can usually set filters to prohibit sites with certain names - but your mate would be rather upset if he found out.

Not an easy one to resolve I'm afraid.
