router recieve ip from ICS

As it currently sit, my network is a modem connecting to a wireless router and then half dozen computers connected to the router. What I want to do is put a pc between the modem and the router for the sole purpose of tracking bandwidth for the network.

Setting up ICS on a pc is simple enough, but what I'm wondering is if I count the router to the ICS pc instead of directly to the modem would it still pick up ip and everything to pass onto the network?

Yes, that can work, but at that point you might just consider running the PC as the router replacing the physical router altogether. There are Linux based routers/firewalls that will track bandwidth as well as include all the typical features of advanced routers and firewalls.
