ok, this is probably a stupid question, but i need an answer anyway. i was trying to transfer some files from my laptop to a desktop, both running windows xp, fully updated. to do this i was sharing the files from the laptop via a wireless network, then, on the desktop, copying them into a folder, planning to delete them from the laptop when the transfer completed. unfortunately, the laptop's battery died in mid-transfer and the the transfer was thus interrupted. this wouldn't be a problem, but the files were rather large and, although they did not finish transferring and there is no sign of them in the designated location on the desktop, they are still taking up memory there, so there is no room on the hard drive for me to start the transfer again. how can i find and remove the partial files so that i can restart the transfer? thanks

Hi,

The partial files are probably located in the Temp folder under your account folder. Do the following...

(1) Open Windows Explorer.
(2) Go to Tools --> Folder Options --> View tab; under "Hidden files and folders" select "Show hidden files and folders". Click OK.
(3) Find your way to C:\Documents and Settings\[your account name]\Local Settings\Temp.

Hopefully the partial files will be there. If not, check under C:\Windows\Temp.

Good luck.
