Two computers are running Win Xp Pro, connected through a crossover cable.

usb modem -------- Host------Crossover---------client

A few days ago, the shared 2mbps connection (needs login) died on the client computer. That was problem with DHNS not assigning an ip. I fixed it by assigning an ip of 192.168.0.3 on host and 192.168.0.2 on client. However, days after that, after i shut off the client, i had to run "home and office set up" to get internet sharing working on client.

Now today, it stopped working totally  being the internet not being shared, i shared it, but it gives me "cannot enable sharing access ERROR: 1061 The specified service does not exist as an installed service."

Tried g  gling, but doesn't work

Any ideas for forum noob in need? :D

Edit: also, any ideas for fixing file sharing, it only goes from host to client. Tried enabling guests and changing same usernames in "control usernames2" and disabling simple file sharing.

Something would appear to be interferring with the Internet Connection Sharing service. Some 3rd party sharing program, or virus, or satellite ISP.

I would suggest you consider getting a broadband router.
