I am using a DSL connection and the DSL modem is connected to a Wireless

Linksys Router. The problem is I am living in a concrete house and the

wireless range is always low range and keeps disconnecting. So I bought an

SMC WEBT-G its from Europe, it supports Ethernet Client/Repeater/Access

Point. I tried all the 3 configuration but no luck on getting internet on my

laptop. My question is do I need to hook the DSL Modem to an Access point

Router in order to make another multi Access points? or can the Linksys

Wireless router be able to connect to an access point. The Linksys Wireless

Router does not have any option to act as an Access Point. What do you

suggest?

It seems you are getting poor signal from the steel re-bar in the concert itself.
As to hook up, modem to switch*router*to PC's *either with cables or wireless cards*.

You may want to use a long cable from the modem to the wireless Access Point and try moving it around the house to see if one location gives you better signal than the other? (normally the higher the better and in a central location). (You could also run your wirelss point from from another switch, using one of that switch's ports, but check the instructions with the WAP and the modem first).

You can also find signal test software on the internet to use at your PC with the wireless card to do the testing.

Remember: A wireless is always a poor solution, and is used for convience only.

The best Method to Extend Wireless Coverage depends heavily on the Specific Environment. As a result, it is very hard to pinpoint a full proof solution without actually being there.

Look at these pages they describe most of the options that are within the means of Entry Level users, and choose the one that fits your environment best.
