Bear with me. I'm brand new to networks.
I have a Win XP system that I've just installed a Verizon DSL service to using a Westell Versalink 327W gateway. This gateway is plugged into my computer with a 3com ethernet card. I want to connect my nikon coolpix P2 to this sytem via the gateway using its wireless features. However, everything I've read so far talks about having Wireless Zero Configuration (which is running) and a wireless network icon that is supposed to be in my Control Panel-Network Connections (but is not). My LAN shows up and is running (which I'm using currently). But, there is no wireless configurations I can identify.
If someone has any advice or sympathy... I appreciate the help.

Regards,
Andy

Apparently your trying to setup an infrastructure mode, ie. camera to wireless access point, and not adhoc, ie. camera direct to the desktop PC. In that case XP Wireless Zero Configuration will not come into play since the desktop is connected by a wire to the Westell 327W.

Check page 136 in the camera Users Manual for help setting up the appropriate information in the camera. The SSID and encryption key (WPA-PSK (TKIP) is recommended) must match the wireless router.

Also read closely the users manual for the Westell 327W for help setting up the wireless network including encryption. Use WPA-PSK (TKIP) if its supported to encrypt the network.

For a safe encryption key I recommend this site. I use it to generate a 63-character random ASCII key to encrypt my home wireless LAN...

Good luck...
