Good day.
I have a Motorola SBG900 gateway/router/cable modem connected
to our cable; PCs with nics can connect fine.
However, I have a Linux box (x86) with a wired NIC, that I'm trying
to connect to the sbg900 with either a Linksys wrt54gs (router)
or a D-Link dwl-800ap+, plugging the linux box into either the wrt54 or
dwl800 with a cat5 cable, and trying to connect to the sbg900
via the wireless on the wrt or dwl.
I plug the wired nic into the wrt54 or the dwl800 and attempt to configure
them for the network. I set up the sbg900, wrt54 and dwl800 to use
the same SSID, and set up the ethernet side of the wrt54 / dwl800 to use
the same ip net as the sbg900 (192.168.0.x/24).
I did try setting up a static route for the wrt54, thinking that may be
the issue, but no results. I still cannot connect with the linux box.
It seems like the IP addresses on the linux box side of the wrt54 should
not make a difference - shouldn't the router take care of routing between
dissimilar networks ?
I've not tried this before, but it seems it should work.
Has anyone run into anything similar ?
Thanks........
