intrusion attempts

setup: adsl hardware firewall router - router firewall set to high - no open ports

my question

why does my software firewall (zone alarm) detect and stop many intrusion attempts - i regularly check my internt connection security with port scans from gibson research which show stealth - so how come these intrusion attempts are getting through the router firewall - been bugging me for days

any ideas more experienced ppl

You might try providing some additional information as to whether your router is strictly wired or possibly includes wireless capabilities. Some examples of the intrusion attempts will help too.
