I have a small home network made up of a Linksys BEFSR41 Router and a Linksys WAP54G access point. I'm looking for a utility that will let me see connections to these network devices. I installed Look@LAN and to some extent it does it but..... it does not show an active wireless connection from my son's laptop (I assume it's his firewall deflecting the ping.... I know the IP address and can't ping it) It also does not show a wired connection on a PC that is old and barely connects at 10 Mbps (I can't ping it and I think it's just a timeout issue) So there's two instances of known connections that Look@LAN does not show.

I think I just need a utility that shows connections without going into a large degree of detail. I know the maximum number of connections I should have on these devices and if I have too many I know I have a security issue. Obviously I'm most concerned about the wireless device.

Anything out there I should try?

Take a look at WallWatcher, it may fulfill what you are describing by showing access through the router(s).

Look at using AirSnare to monitor the wireless segment...AirSnare will also report MAC Addresses from fixed nodes...

As an administrator install WinPcap first then AirSnare. You can run AirSnare using Run as... if you normally run as a limited user like I do...
