Hello.

My WLAN worked fine before... but today I installed norton internet security and later I tried to connect to my Wifi and it suddenly did not work. And also the options/properties for the wireless connection says that my detection has changed to manual all of a sudden when it was set on 'automatically connect to WLAN". I looked in the Network connections folder options and now it says that the Local area connection, wireless network connection and 1394 connection is all 'firewalled'. I have a linksys G router and intel(r) pro/wireless 2200BG network connection. I also tried setting up a WEP and it failed after a few attempts... My Laptop does not even pick up on my router anymore either.

I'm not techy so i do not know what else to note. Please ask for further information to help me through this process. Thank you for your time. :)

Why did you install NIS ? NIS is a bit over complex for a home user.
You have a NAT router, and with XP SP2 you are safe from intrusion. You should be running an anti-virus program (e.g. AVG) and anti-spyware (e.g. microsoft). The only gap this leaves is to trap outgoing unexpected traffic which would be simpler with zonealarm if essential (but I don't recommend).

I run NIS without any problems. at first you can disable the firewalls etc including xindows firewall. Then configure the personal firewall on NIS run the network wizard which should allow 192.168.2.1 - 192.168.2.10 to communicate.

If that fails I would open up all aspects of the network, ie turn off MAC address filtering, turn off all firewalls, broadast your SSID, and do not encrypt.

If this works add it all back on a bit at a time until it works that way if it stops working you will know what needs configuring.
