Not an expert in any way.
I have set up the D link router (DI-614), connected to the router an Access Point (SMC2655) and on each PC a SMC2662.
Have corrected SID, channel etc. Good connection all over. I have been trying for a very long time to secure this network. When enable 128 bit encryption on the router in ASCII (AC1FG2TH8KJ90 as an example) key 1, go into the administation of the Access Point, enable 128 bit, key 1 with the same code/key (AC1FG2TH8KJ90), save etc. then go to the PC where the (SMC 802.11b WLAN Monitor Utility wont search until encryption is enabled, enables 128, enter the key info manually, but it then complaints that the key lenght is invalid.
Shut everythin down - have to disable encryption on the router to log on to the AP, and discovers that it has not kept the ASCII but expects a HEX key.
Re do everything and same picture.
What am I doing wrong here and why is it so hard to setup up :(
If I have to use hex, how do you do that?
Appreciate help,
Karina
