Hi All,

I would like to set up a wireless network consisting of my 2 desktop computers and my laptop. I have bought a Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Firewall Router and a Netgear WG111 Wireless 54Mbps USB 2.0 Adapter. The laptop has wireless capabilities. The router will be connected to my main computer and the adapter to the secondary computer.

I am completely ignorant when it comes to setting up networks and would be most obliged if someone could provide very explicit and clear instructions on how to do this.

Many thanks for your time and patience.

Martin

Your Modem seems to be a Modem/Router Combo, and then you have an additional Wireless Router. Using two Routers on one Network is not a good idea.

Usually Combo Modem/Router can be configured has a regular Gateway Modem. Do so and then you can use the Wireless Router.

Log to this page it has many links to instructions to Windows Network Settings, and Sharing.

Link to: Windows Network - Installing & Sharing. (http://www.ezlan.net/Installing.html)

The whole thing should look like this, http://www.ezlan.net/network/router.jpg

Hi All,

I have connected my Netgear DG834G 54Mbps Wireless ADSL Modem Firewall Router and a Netgear WG111 Wireless 54Mbps USB 2.0 Adapter to my 2 desktop computers, my laptop already has wifi capabilities. All 3 coomputers can access the internet without any problems. What I would like to do is have the C drive of the main computer accessable by the laptop. I have enabled file sharing but I cannot find a way to have the C drive listed in my network places on the laptop.

Any advice in helping me sort this out would be very much appreciated.

Many thanks
Martin

Hi,

At last I can see the desktop folders in my net workplaces on the laptop however when I try to open them I get a error message saying that I might not have permission to use this network resource. Access Denied

Any ideas on how to get access? I have enabled file shareing on both computers involved.

Make sure any firewall software is turned off.
