I am attempting to set up a wireless network using a Belkin Wireless G Router (802.11g) and Belkin wireless network card. The wireless signal is very unstable fluctuating from < 50% to <5% over a short period of time. The router is situated about 32 feet from the computer. There are no major obstructions between the router and the wireless computer.

Has anyone got any ideas as to the solution to this problem? Or do Belkin routers just not work. This is the thired one we have tried.

Put the Wireless Client computer 2' away from the source and see if the problem persists.

If it persists and your configuration is correct, you might have faulty Hardware.

If it works OK from close proximity, then you have a distance, or and Noise problem.

You can try to change the Wireless channels, and switch Off 2.4GHz Cordless Tel. (if you have one).

Otherwise, you have to extend the distance even if it is only 32’
