Hi all. First, I hate computers and they hate me. The computer I am trying to set up for my daughter is getting the best of me. I have a Linksys wireless router and the pc has a Linksys wireless card. The pc picks up the signal but will not connect to the internet. I have tried with WEP enabled and without. I have gone over every ip setting that i can see, but it still will not connect. I have spoken with 2 different techs from linksys for several hours and still nothing. I have installed and uninstalled my EZArmor. Linksys said the card must be no good and to send it back. I bought a new one anyway cause I didn't want to wait and still doesn't work.

Please....bring me down off this cliff or just push me off!!!

BTW..My wife has a laptop that she brought home from work that goes right on and when the weather is right I can actually go through my neighbors wireless network. Just not mine and only on this pc. Its running XP Pro and it is a fresh install.

Wireless devices are designed to work with their default settings.

Take off any WEP settings in the router.

The PC should have XP SP2.

Try deleting the linksys driver (in device manager) from the PC and the linksys software utility. Reboot. The PC will detect the card and install a fresh copy of the driver which is all you need.

Thanks but no good. I have done this before. I did it again. I switched the slot in which the card was in. Still the same. It picks up the signal but will not connect to the internet. It will not even ping the router.Any more advice will be appreciated. Thanks.

Thanks for the help. But I went this way....

I just picked up a Belkin pre-n router today and let me tell you it rocks. Blazing fast. Awesome signal. When I finally got my old wireless b router working yesterday, I could only get a very good signal when it was right next to the router and it was dial up slow. Now with the belkin, the pc is about 30 ft away through 3 wood paneled walls and I still get excellent signal and I just downloaded quicktime and itunes at over 700k per second. It was on sale at compusa for $89US. I highly recommend it.
