I have been setting up some additional computers to my company's local area network, but these don't show up in Network Places (they don't even see themselves!). All computers are running Win2000 Professional, with a Windows 2000 Server. No connections to internet or other proxy settings applicable - only hard-wired intranet. I've checked and re-checked the network settings and can't find any difference computer to computer. Each computer, while it can't see itself and only the original computers in Network Places, all of them can still run programs from the server. (???) This would be fine, except it is preventing me from installing other software for the network as a whole. Anyone have any suggestions? I'm fresh out of ideas..... :(

You might also try http://www.enterpriseitplanet.com since these forums are mostly geared at SOHO networks. They also have a forum too and it is geared at business networks.

My network would be considered a SOHO network. It's not that big - only about 20 computers. But it's wierd that I can't see the new ones I added on the Network Places. Any suggestions? (I will check out the other site.)

The lack of response is probably a good indication that your network is beyond that of the typical SOHO network that is discussed across these forums. If you look across these forums, the typical network is rarely beyond 5 systems. If your company depends on the computers and them being networked, then it too should consider not short-changing itself by confusing a small business network as a SOHO network.
