Hello. I have a query for you.
I just got a new notebook, which is ABSOLUTELY AMAZING -

http://www.laptopsdirect.co.uk/Fujitsu-Siemens_Amilo_M_3438G_LKN:GBR-177200-008/version.asp

That link contains all the specs...

Only one problem though, and that's the inbuilt wireless.

I got a netgear WG602 access point and set it all up, no problems there as XP instantly recognised it. I setup all the IP, WEP and I can access the Internet okay. The problem is that all the data comes through in bursts, not continously, it all just comes through in one hit.
I use IRC a lot (through mIRC) and data in channels just wooshes through in one go, not continously. So much so I end up ping timeout'ing.

I have tried altering all the settings on the AP and the laptop but to no avail. I'm using XP's wireless client.
My Desktop pc (obviously wired) does not have this problem so it's the wireless that's the prob, not the internet connection.

Any ideas on this, or do you think I should try getting another access point?

Many thanks, hope you can help with this as it's very frustrating. 8(

I don't really undestand what you mean by the data 'whooshing'. Or exactly what problem you are experiencing. Whatever the problem is the wireless connection does not cause it. More likely your IRC configuration.

Hi there.

Thanks for the reply. It was indeed the access point.
There's no way to configure IRC to behave like that, as I mentioned on my first post the 'flood' of data (aka whoosh hehe) was only on the wireless laptop, not on a wired PC through the same connection.

I purchased another AP from 3com and no problems at all.
I'll send back the Netgear as it must be a fault with it.
