Hey guys,
First post here, and a problem that's got me tearing my hair out. I have a wireless network set up in my home using a Motorola SBG900 (all-in-one cable modem/wireless router). All works well but I'm not getting the range/signal strength I need. I tried many, many different things to fix it, all to no avail.
So I bought a different router, a D-Link DI-524. I called Motorola and they told me how to disable the gateway/router portion of the SBG900. When I try to use the DI-524 as my router, I can never connect to the internet.
I have talked with tech support people from Motorola, D-Link, eMachines and Metrocast (my ISP). Each has come to the conclusion that their stuff is working and the problem exists elsewhere. But If it's not the ISP, the Modem, the Router, or the Computer, then what's left?
There is one anomaly that all agree on: my SBG900, even with the gateway disabled, is still pulling an IP address from the ISP. Nobody I talked to can figure out how to get it to stop.
Anybody here have any ideas or experience using a different router with the SBG900? Any and all help will be greatly appreciated.
