Hey guys, this is my first post on this fine board. Hopefully you guys can help me out with my wireless problem.

My problem is this. I have 3 computers in my house. One in the basement, one in on the second floor, and a laptop. The router is in the basement. The computer on the 2nd floor and laptop both connect by wireless. However,
the 2nd floor computer's internet is terrible. The signal is always low, the mbps is always low, and the Internet is incredibly slow or nonexistent. It wasn't always like this. It was good for a while, but in the last few months, it has been horrible.

However, the laptop when in the same exact room as the 2nd floor computer or right next to that computer connects excellently to the wireless internet with a "good" or "very good" signal strength and a high mbps.

This has led me to believe that there's nothing wrong with the router and a computer is capable of getting a good signal strength on the second floor as evidenced by the laptop.

I would call up linksys, but the problem is this. I always get someone from India or the Phillippines whom I cannot understand. Secondly, they will want me to mess up all of my settings on the router, which is completely unnecessary since the router has nothing to do with it since the laptop computer is getting excellent internet. Also, it would take me a minimum of 2 hours to get through and go through everything with linksys.

Do you think the problem is the wireless card on the second floor computer? Should I get a new one? What do you guys think? If you need the numbers/letter for the router/card, I can provide it. I don't have it with me right now, but I'll look for it. Thank you for any help I can get!

Edit: All 3 computer involved have Windows XP. We connect to the internet via Verizon DSL. The router and wireless card on the 2nd floor computer are from linksys. I'm not sure the brand of the laptop computer, but that's moot since it works fine.

Might be an Antenna issue, it the computer is using PCI or USB with the Antenna stuck behind the Case it might block the Signal.

May be this can Help, http://www.ezlan.net/faq#wcard
