Well, I've searched high and low. Googled "can't stop sharing" and "unable to stop sharing" and "stop sharing". Plenty of links about HOW to share folders. For some reason I'm unable to stop sharing. I'm running Windows XP Pro.

When I go to computer management:shared folders:shares and right click on any of the shares, all I get are options for refresh or help. (I'm logged on as an administrator.)

If I try to disable sharing in Explorer, the checkboxes are checked and grayed out and I can't chage the selections for either "share this folder on the network" or "make this folder private".

Perhaps there is a necessary service that is not running?

Any pointers would be appreciated. Thank You.

Problem resolved by disabling simple file sharing.
