I'm using a DW6000 to feed to a Linksys wrt54G router. Both have DHCP enabled.

The wireless laptop has wpa enabled and works fine.

The ethernet connected PC often boots with a 'connected' message but also has another 'gateway connection showing' and it won't actually communicate. I have to disable the ethernet connection (the gateway goes away) and when I enable the connection again all is well, no 'gateway' connection showing.

I have the router set with a staic IP of 192,168.0.3 and the DHCP modem is 192.168.0.1 (default)

What can I change in my settings to make my PC boot each time to a good connection?

Thanks,
Glenn

Whats a DW6000? Its more than just a modem if it has a DHCP service.

If the wired PC is conneced to the Linksys router you should disable the DHCP service in the modem.

Hi,

Thanks for the reply.

DW6000 is the modem for the 2way satellite Internet system we travel with. I can't turn it off.

I think my problem probably lies in the way I have the Linksys router configured.

Thanks,

Glenn

I see.
I didn't mean turn off the DW6000, just its DHCP service. But understanding now exactly what it is you can't do that.

You should connect it to one of the LAN ports of your Linksys and turn off the DHCP service in the Linksys. (What you really need is just a switch instead of a router).

Thank you.

That should work for the inside router. I'll give it a shot.

We're trying some captive portal software on the outside router so we'rebreaking some new ground.
