I just purchased a dell laptop with widows xp and although i absolutely hate microsoft  and am a redhat user:cool: i dont know didly squat about xp:eek:. I need the windows partition for graphic design classes, and it is sharing a 20 gig hard drive with red hat 8.0. I have files on my mothers computers that are too large to send via floppy and i dont have acess to a zip drive for my laptop, so i wanted to set up am ftp link between the two with cat 5e cable so that I could transfer my files to my laptop. How do i set up an ftp server on windows between the two computers?

you will need to buy a crossover cable first to connect the two machines together or use a hub/switch.

You will need an FTP program (shareware should do) Then just make sure both machines are on the same subnet and you should be set. (Don't believe XP comes with FTP built in)
