hey, this seems like an awesome forum, too bad i didn't discover this earlier :(

umm, but yeah, getting back.. can someone help out with this newbie networking problem
i was wondering what are some of the hardware required to have a wireless connection in an office building..(assuming that its spilt into 3levels) where i need to connect around 30 computers

i came up with this list:
* Broadband Modem
* Router
* Wireless Network Point and Multiple Port Switch
* Wireless Network Adapter for each computer
* Network Adapter for each computer that will connect as wired to the network.

um, are there more required??

also, what standard should i be looking at? I was thinking of "A" standard, however can A standard handle transfer between floors? or is it safer to stick to "G" ??

any help is appreciated

Since this seems to be in support of a business network, you might try http://www.enterpriseitplanet.com. They also have a forum too and it is geared at business networks.

The best thing out there right now is G. By next year there will be N which will provide greater speeds at greater distances.

What is the setup of the area that you want to deploy this at? When you said there are 3 levels, did you mean 3 floors?
