Several months ago I purchased a D-Link I-624 router and Wireless D-Link card for another PC in my home. I had it running to use both PCs on my broadband connection to Comcast through a Motorolla cable modem, but with no security other than changing the admin password on the router. (I know now this was a no no) I have since read several articles on security so the day I recieved a new laptop from Dell with a wireless card. (Both work on 802.11g)I assinged a unique SSID? and turned on WPA-PSK(was told it is better the WEP). I did this and printed out the unique key(very long!) The notebook detects the network and I configured it for the same channel and typed in the key and it keeps saying it is trying to find an address and never connects? Do I have an IP issue, MAC adresss issue? Need some advice. Thanks. (I have not even tried to get the other PC back on the network.)

Update: I called D-Link Tech Support and they said I needed WPA software on my laptop to use this feature and to get it from Microsoft. I think this was just to get me off the phone. I went to Microsoft and they said WPA combatabilty is in the drivers for the device. I have an Intel 2200BG card in my laptop and so I updated the drivers. Last night I switched my network back to "Open" and the laptop connects no problem. Anyone else have trouble with WPA?

I have the same DLink set up and my Sony FS550 has the Intel PRO/2200 b/g card. I have WPA-PSK and it works fine. Make sure you have WPA-PSK & TKIP (not AES which the DLink does not support) selected in your configuration on your laptop. You may also check to see if you have the latest Intel drivers (9.0.1.9 is the latest - I believe there were some 8.X versions that had some problems).
