hi

can anyone help out a newbie to both the foruums & networking.
the setup i have at home comprises of the following

dads computer - windows xp (sp2) - BT Voyager 2100 Wireless Router connected with a CAT 5

brothers computer - windows 98 (2nd ed) - BT Voyager 1040 PCI

my computer - windows xp (sp2) - BT Voyager 1040 PCI

As far as im aware all communicate through the router as am able to access the net from all computers without problems. The problem i have is how to get the 3 computers networked. I have run the wizards in xp 2 no avail.

Thanks in advance

Spoke to soon.

Both win xp computers are connecting fine, however the 98se computer is not detecting the workgroup. Any ideas?

thanks

trying to network XP with any earlier Windows is hard work. As of they are 2 different things like i believe 98 is different on the autoconnectiong which might be why you cannot pick up the workgroup.
You may manually want to try and connect
them, if you want to know what i mean,

i have tried everything i can think of
gone through the check list and everything appears to be in order the weird thing is that it detects the work group (which is called lake) in network neighbourhood. There must be something im doing wrong as explained before both windows xp computers are detected in my network places.
