I'm currently running an all G home wireless network using the D-Link DI-624 router. Up to now I've only been using a laptop and a PS2 wirelessly - the laptop using the DWL-G650 card and the PS2 using the DWL-G820 gaming adapter.
Now I've recently bought a Tivo and would like to add it to the network. The catch, of course, is that the only wireless usb adapters that are compatible with the Tivo use the B format. So I sought out a solution to get my Tivo to run at G speeds.
On a Tivo forum I discovered that the work around people are using is to connect a wired USB adapter to a G bridge. The folks over there also suggested that I would be able to put a switch behind the bridge and run both my Tivo and my PS2 behind the same bridge.
So I got a DWL-G810, put the basic 5-port unmanaged D-link switch behind it and connected the Tivo and PS2. Voila, everything connected OK to the network.
The problem, though, is after being connected for about 5 minutes, the PS2 connection gets kicked off. When I connect the PS2 directly to the bridge it works fine, it's only when I'm running through the switch that I get kicked off. The Tivo works fine whether it's running through the switch or not.
Does anyone have any ideas why this is happening and any suggestions to get it to work? My goal is to have a setup where I don't need to constantly be moving wires around for all my ethernet devices to work. Basically, I'm searching for the cost effective solution for wireless networking of multiple ethernet devices behind one bridge or access point. Thanks in advance for any help.
