Hi,
I just got my first wireless router about 2 days ago the problem I am having with it is that the wired network part of it keeps blinking on and off like just now as I am typing this it said "network Cable is Unpluged" then a seconde later "Network cable is now connected" and it blinks like that at random times !
very frustrating when playing Xbox Live : )

is it just a bad router? should I take it back? or is it a software problem?

The 2 wired systems are win98 and a win xp ( xp number 1)

then I have 2 laptops on the wirless.

thanks guys
Mike

thanks for the links man!
but I still have this problem.
before my wireless router I had a D-link Wired only router and every thing worked fine so I know all of the cables are fine and all of the NICs are fine.

But as soon as I got this router it started doing this blinking thing :(

so I tried updating the firmware ( no go) then I thought maybe the encryption had something to do with it so I took it off and it seemed to help it worked for about a day and it only disconencts 3 or 4 times a day compared to the 30 it used to.

I also noticed that this seems to happend when I am using the internet like when I am playing a game online or when I am playing xbox live it seems to happen and it seems to only happend to the wired part of the router the wireless doesn't seem to be affected.

I ended up taking back the Airlink and trading it for another one it does the same thing, same disconnect problem same every thing, when I type airlink router in google I come up with this other message board where people are having the same problem and they say it is because of faulty Firmware so they have been flashing there firmware from the airlink firmware to Kcorp firmware ( I don't think I will do this because of the risk involved.
so it ends up I am probably going to take back the router for good unless I can find out how to fix it with in the 30 days I have to take it back.

I am still open for suggestions !
thanks
Mike

Have you tried "hard setting" your NIC settings as pointed out in the previously quoted thread? These units are solid with the exception of some NIC incompatibilities.

It varies between devices as well as OSes. It's usually within the actual hardware driver settings for the network card (NIC).
