Can anyone help please??

I am running XP on a Dell Inspiron Laptop 1150 which has a 1350 WLAN card installed. My ISP is Tiscali broadband 512Kbps. I bought a Mentor ADSL Wireless router AWR51/2C soley so that i could access my laptop wireless. I can connect both devices via the ethernet cable and my LAN works perfectly and i can connect to IE with no issues. I have setup the router via the manufacturers webpage and followed all instructions including setting IE to never dial a connection and to automaticaly detect settings. My laptop detects the wireless network (conexant) straight away and says that my signal strength is excellent. But when i try to access IE when i am connect wireless, IE tries to detect proxy setting and tells me that i am offline and that there is no internet connection and no page to display.

Any help would be gratefully appreciated as i have spent days trying to fix this.

Thanx

Ps. I have also set up the wireless router with 64 bit WEP encription but when it connects it tells me that this is an unsecured open connection???????????????
