im using a dell laptop with a linksys card. in my office we have a few laptops with built in wireless cards. all of them can detect a wireless signal. i have only tested with my laptop, but when i walk across the office, i notice my signal strength increasing. with microsofts wireless wizard, i am able to connect to the internet wirelessly. my question here is HOW? we do not have a wireless router in the office. i think one of the laptops is allowing my laptop to get onto the internet wirelessly. how can i tell how my laptop is getting on the net without turning off every laptop.

thank you,
tate

It is unlikely to be via one of the other laptops. Your laptop would have to be configured for 'ad hoc' mode and it would require some special configuration on the other laptop to make internet access possible.

More likely it is a wireless router in another nearby office giving you free internet access (and access to their network).
