Hi,

I am trying to put some security into my network , the first step was to enable WEP on my Belkin AP i selected 128bit auto and put in a password , i applied the same settings to each of the clients on the network , but only the main PC seems to work the other two have lost network and Interent connection.

Secondly i also tried to administer MAC authorisation again after updating the belikin AP , nothing would connect.

I have a zoom adsl modem router connected to a belkin wireless access pt connectted to my main desktop pc (with belkin wireless card) there is on othere desktop with a belkin wireless card , and a laptop/notebook with a wireless card.

I took down all FW whiles doing this , is there anything else that i need to do to get these features working ?

You are taking a risk by connecting only Wirelessly to your Router and AP.

You should get a switch and using wires plug the AP and one computer to the switch.

AS for the security aspect. Turn the WEP off and try the MAC filtering without the WEP. Once it is Working try thr WEP again.

Do all of this while the clients are close to the AP to make sure that you have strong connection.

Tks JackMDS,

No no my adsl router is wired to the main PC and then onto to the wireless access pt.

I reset my AP and was able to update the mac filters , it seems to be ok from a network point of view but i have lost internet access accross all the clients , any ideas ?

Another problem thats has just developed is i am getting a IP conflict , something screwy has happened to the IP's i can see they have changed but don't know what has triggered this.
How can you reset IP's (they were DHCP assigned).

After i fix the above two probs i will try the WEP update.

Sorry but I can not understand the way your network is connected.

What is doing the Internet Routing?

Usually it should loo like this: Link to: Diagram of Broadband Connection with Cable/DSL Router. (http://www.ezlan.net/~network/router.jpg)
