I have a Dell 1600n (has built-in ethernet) that I want to connect wirelessly to my network. Can I use the Netgear WGE111 game adapter? I have a WRG614v5 router that I'll be connecting to.

I had bought a Netgear WG602v3 AP assuming that this would be able to something this simple, especially since it shows on the back of the box that it can, but it can't. So it's either return the AP for a game adapter or return it and the router and opt for Linksys instead.

TIA

You should be able to as long as it is setup for your wireless network. Some of the wireless game adapters require the actual gaming console for configuration through the console.

The Microsoft one (which I have for my Xbox) does, but the Netgear and Linksys models do not.

Then the Netgear and Linksys models should work. The adapters are basically wireless-to-ethernet bridges, with the wireless piece functioning as a wireless client.
