Hi there.

Ok here goes...

I have two machines running XP connected to each other through a router, Linksys WRT54g, and using Linksys 54g PCI cards.

The router is not connected to the internet. My connection is through one of my XP PCs on a dial up. Before I put in the router my wireless cards talked to each other on an adhoc connection and I used ICS to use the net.
I do not know how to share this same connection now that the router is in place. The reason I am not using the router is because I will not be on Broadband for another three months.
How can I enable the PC to share it's connection through the router to the other PC? I hope I have made sense!!

Router 192.168.1.1
pc1 192.168.1.101 (internet connection) XP home
pc2 192.168.1.100 XP PRO

Thank you

You use ICS just as before. To allow it to work you must disable the DHCP service in the router and reboot everything. Your PCs will then get the original IPs in the 192.168.0.* range.

Whilst disabling the DHCP service I suggest you change the router's default LAN address to 192.168.0.10 so you can access it later to re-enable the service.

Thank you for taking the time to reply.

I have now got it up and running. Quite easy when you know how!

I didn't realise that ICS was dishing out the IP addresses as well.

When setting up before I have always used the Wizard and obviously not taken much notice of what it does!!

Thanks again,
